The Infraworks 360 Advanced Course is designed for civil engineers, planners, architects, and others using Infraworks 360

It is a 1 day course which focuses on the 360 cloud based functionality such as the Model Builder, Roadway Design, Bridge Design and Drainage Design modules

A separate (Fundamentals) course which focuses on the core functionality of Infraworks is also available and is recommended for beginners before taking this course.


An A2K Technologies “Certificate of Attendance” will be issued following Instructor-led Training


A Training Guide is provided as a Reference Resource at the conclusion of the course

Who should attend and Course Prerequisites

No previous CAD experience is required, but students are expected to have:
• a sound level of computer literacy
• a sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows environment
• a basic understanding and knowledge of the design process.

The Infraworks Fundamentals course is recommended for users without experience in Infraworks before taking the advanced course.

Course Contents

The course is structured in four sections to provide you with the knowledge needed to take InfraWorks to the next level.
Note: Topics to be covered during the Instructor-led phase of the course will be drawn from those outlined below.


Model Builder
Build and start working with 3D models from publicly available data before any data collection or onsite survey work has begun.

Share files using the Infraworks 360 Service
- Manage group memberships and online models
- Publish Scenarios for public viewing through a web browser.


Roadway Design for InfraWorks 360
Advanced road and highway capabilities help civil engineering professionals working on transportation projects to:
- streamline roadway geometry layout, including intersection design, with powerful, rules-based toolsets
- Sight distance analysis capabilities to help uncover potential impacts in the preliminary design phase.

Intersection and Roundabout Design for InfraWorks 360
Advanced intersection capabilities allow engineers to investigate intersection and design vehicle changes during preliminary design.
- Enhanced roundabout data transfer between Infraworks and Civil3D.

Drainage Design for InfraWorks 360
Use Drainage Design for InfraWorks 360 to model watersheds, culverts, and pavement drainage.
Review and analyse performance of individual drainage structures or sections of a drainage network.
Choose pipes and connectors from a default or custom component part catalog, which Drainage Design can share with Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D

Bridge Design for InfraWorks 360
Explore preliminary design options more effectively by creating data-rich models and visualizing realistic civil structures in the context of the surrounding proposed site. Bridge Design for InfraWorks® 360 software helps simplify, accelerate, and focus the layout of girder bridge design concepts, and maintain consistent data and context.

Component Roads
Enables you to add, delete, and modify every component and assembly that makes up a design road. Rather than applying styles to an entire road, you can now design roads in the context of the surrounding scene

Traffic simulation
Analyse traffic flow through intersections, display color-coded traffic analysis results, and generate traffic simulation animations to play in your model.


Enhanced Workflow between InfraWorks 360 and AutoCAD Civil 3D
The process of moving InfraWorks 360 designs to AutoCAD Civil 3D for detailed design work, and then back into the InfraWorks 360 model, has been enhanced to streamline data sharing.

Preparing MX and 12D data for editing
Understand the limitations and rules that need to be adhered to in order to import geometry from external packages.

Land Areas and Grading
Provides an easy way to define horizontal, flat areas for building sites, parking lots, airport sites, and so forth. Land areas flatten the terrain surface, provide sharp corners, and cut and fill grading styles at the perimeter

Suitability Maps
Helps you determine optimal locations for corridors and sites as well as the analysis of existing features in the model

Corridor Optimization
Determine optimal horizontal and vertical roadway geometry based on a number of factors and create optimal road projects. The optimized horizontal alignment and profile can be based on topographic conditions, areas identified as undesirable (avoidance zones) and wetlands. Use road types, bridge, and tunnel structures for proposed designs, while optimizing the road design elements.

Note: This is a one day course builds upon the basics learnt in “InfraWorks 360 LT (Essentials)”.

This course is designed for professionals working in the areas of Civil Engineering, Planning and others needing to quickly learn how to use this powerful design, planning and presentation software.
It will enable the user to manage larger-scale models and generate early design concepts more effectively in the context of the built environment. The user will explore the use of the add-on modules as well as other features like Model Builder, Corridor and Profile Optimization, and InfraWorks in the cloud
