AutoCAD Fundamentals

AutoCAD Fundamentals covers the essential core topics for working with the AutoCAD software. The teaching strategy is to start with a few basic tools that enable the student to create and edit a simple drawing, and then continue to develop those tools.

Description

This course covers the core topics for working with AutoCAD in a 2D environment.  Not every command or option is covered, because the intent is to show the fundamental 2D drafting tools and concepts. More advanced tools are also introduced throughout the training guide provided.

An Autodesk® Official Training Guide is provided as a Reference Resource at the conclusion of the course.

Certification

Course Objectives
On completion of this course students will have been given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of commands and concepts that develop the skills necessary to demonstrate competency in:
     • Navigating the AutoCAD workspace and user interface
     • Using basic drawing, editing and viewing tools
     • Organising drawing objects on layers
     • Inserting reusable symbols (blocks)
     • Preparing a layout to be plotted
     • Adding text, hatching, and dimensions
     • Completing documentation in accordance with relevant Standards

Who should attend and Course Prerequisites

This course is designed for new users of AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT.No previous CAD experience is required, but students are expected to have:
     • a sound level of computer literacy
     • an understanding of drafting or engineering principles
     • a demonstrated ability to interpret working drawings
     • a sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 7 or 8 environment
